Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we have a big dinner with my mom's side of the family. It was great to see all my family this year! After dinner we get to open one present- pajamas- so we can get cozy for bed and wait for Santa to come!

Freimuth Family Dinner

We were lucky to get all the Freimuth cousins who live in Seattle together for dinner while Laura and Pablo were in town. We were even surprised by some special guests- our grandparents. They usually spend Christmas at their place in Palm Springs so we were all happy they decided to fly up to spend Christmas with my dad so we could see them. Usually we only see my dad's side of the family once a year at the family reunion so whenever we can get this many Freimuth's together it is a special treat. We did a small-plates theme or tapas so Pablo and I made some patatas bravas, ali-oli and empanada.

White Christmas

Family at the Tap House

We had a fun-filled family outing downtown Seattle when we went to dinner and a show. We went to the 5th Avenue Theatre and saw the holiday favorite, White Christmas. I had seen the show before and it is really good plus very American so I thought it would be fun for Pablo.
We got there early and had a chance to look at the downtown lights which I wanted to see while I was home. We met my dad and Jeanne at the Tap House and had fun trying the beer and enjoying a family dinner together. It is rare we can all be together and I'm lucky we can make it happen.
After dinner we went to the theatre and admired the brand new marquee- so shiny! We stopped in the theatre bar before the show for some fun drinks and made an appearance again during half time (intermission). The show was fun and it even snowed! We felt very christmasy!
We continued the party after the show and headed to the Fairmont Hotel for a fancy drink and to admire the fancy hotel and decorations. Laura and I had a poinsettia (champagne drink) and Pablo tried an eggnog martini. Great way to end the evening with the family!

Crab Shack

Learning how to throw and kick a football

Pablo finally got to see the completed Crab Shack on the island and the future site of our wedding reception. I got to explain my 'vision' for the wedding and he seemed to like it so we'll stick with it. We spent the first day with my dad and Jeanne and cooked a big dinner and enjoyed a nice cozy evening with a fire, games and lots of wine. Unfortunately, the second day the weather was not very nice and we ended up staying inside the entire day. I caught up on all my shows on the food network, travel channel and we even watched Oprah. It was nice to just sit and do nothing even though it would have been nice to be able to do a little activity or something while we were there. I guess he'll just have to come back in August for the wedding!

Decorating Christmas cookies

Decorating with mom and grandma

Finished!

Pablo also had to decorate Christmas cookies while he was here. We did it the semi-lazy way buying the pre-cut sugar cookies. But we made them pretty by decorating them with cream cheese, colored, frosting and sprinkles!

Wine Tasting

Pablo's two weeks in town weren't going to be very relaxing. As always, I had activities planned so Pablo would feel like he was getting his money's worth! The first day was spent decorating the house, cupcake tasting for the wedding and dinner at my dad's house. The second day we went to Chateau St. Michelle for their monthly wine tasting event with my mom and aunt in Woodinville. After so much Spanish wine we had to indulge in the Washington wine for awhile! After, we went next door to Red Hook for some local beer and dinner.
